Esther BAILEY was born in Hinckley in 1843/44 and was the daughter of Joseph BAILEY, a milkman, and Esther BATES. She was christened on 19 July 1843 at Saint Mary, Hinckley.
Her surname, BAILEY, was subsequently used as a christian name for several generations in the GARNER and WEAVER family.
In 1861 Esther was living with her mother at Trinity Lane, Hinckley. John GARNER, who became her husband in 1862, was also living on Trinity Lane in 1861 - there are only 7 houses between them in the census - which explain perhaps how they met.
Esther BAILEY was John GARNER's first wife and the mother of his five children: Arthur, Esther Elizabeth (Lizzie), Willoughby ('Wink'), Thomas (Tom) and John W.
Esther died of bronchitis in April 1882 aged just 38. 5 6 7 8
