Joan was the daughter of Percy Matthews who was the manager of the British and Argentine Meat Company in Bromsgrove High Street and had a sister Nancy and a brother who went into business up North. Joan Matthews was Andrew Weaver's Godmother.
Joan Matthews married Ronald Guest. They lived in a house built by William Weaver Ltd with an unusual green tiled roof, on what is now Stratford Road.
Ronald and Joan in effect made a second connection between the Weaver and Edwards families.
