Byberry Monthly Meeting

Whereas Benjamin Taylor son of Joseph Taylor of Kennett in the county of Chester and province of Pennsylvania and Sarah Nooks daughter of William Nooks of Middletown in the said county having declared the intentions of marriage with each other before several monthly meetings of the people called Quakers at Concorde in the said county according to the good order cited among them, and having consent of parents and appearing clear of all others there said hope of marriage was allowed of by the said meetings. Now these are to certify whom it may concern that for the full accomplishing these said intentions this 5th day of the 5th month in the year of our Lord 1733, they the said Benjamin Taylor and Sarah Nooks appeared in a public meeting of the said people at Birmingham in the said county and the said Benjamin Taylor taking the said Sarah Nooks by the hand did in a solemn manner openly declare that he took her the said Sarah Nooks to be his wife promising to be unto her a loving and faithful husband until death should separate them; and them and those in the same assembly the said Sarah Nooks did in like manner declare that she took the said Benjamin Taylor to be husband promising to be unto him a loving and faithful wife until death should separate them; and moreover the said Benjamin Taylor and Sarah Nooks (she according to the custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband) as a further confirmation thereof did then and hereto these presents set their hands; and we whose names are here under also subscribed being present at the solemnization of the said marriage and subscription have as witnesses hereunto set our hands the day and year above written
