Narrative and Notes

Ruth's first husband, Henry TOMSON of Droitwich, was approximately 15 years her senior. They baptized only one child, Henry, on 1 Jan 1707/08 in Bromgrove. Her husband died and was buried in Bromsgrove on 12 Oct 1712.

At some point Ruth emigrated with her son, ending up in Middleton Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. By 1730 she was posing as the wife of William NOOK, who had left his wife Elizabeth, along with seven children in Bromsgrove. It's not clear whether they knew each other in Bromsgrove, travelled together from Bromsgrove or met in Pennsylvania. William died in 1733 leaving her the bulk of his estate.

In 1738 she sold the plantation land to George Lownes, Yeoman of the Township of Springfield for £50.

By 1742 she had remarried, to Robert W(H)ARBERTON, who died in 1760. They may have had a son William, although he may have been Robert's child from an earlier marriage.

She died later in 1760 and left her remaining estate to her son, Henry, from her marriage to Henry TOMSON. She also mentions her "sisters children Robert and Samuel & Ma[r]tha Butler children of Joseph and Mary Butler living in Broms Grove Wister Shier".
