There were at least two Richard GARNERs of approximately the right age in/around Burbage in 1851. One was a farmer of 161 acres with 5 labourers in Cottesbach, the other was the Burbage Parish Clerk / Registrar.

The farmer married Elizabeth FERGUSON in 1839. John FERGUSON, Schoolmaster, also born in Scotland and possibly her older brother, was visiting in 1851.

The clerk married Rebecca GREENWAY on 5 Nov 1818.

One of the Richards sold some tiles to Thomas Fox for Wibtoft. The record is held by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
