Frank A MATTHEWS emigrated to the United States and lived in Spring Arbor, Michigan.
He was a US war vetean having served in the Spanish American war.
He continued to correspond with his old family in Evesham. A fragment of a letter to Annie Elizabeth (STOKES) EDWARDS:
"...Am sending by the same mail, one of Franks photo & graduation cards & will have to get some pictures of the rest of the gang, & send over. How are you & the rest of you any way, I would sure like to drop in there some day & have a good visit. We all feeling fine Ethel & Tom were both out here last week & said would write you. We have had poor weather for fruit & farming so far this year, late spring & frosts & after that hot & dry, what fruit the frosts did not kill, practically dried up, Wheat & Rye awful light, & oats so short farmers will have to cut with mowing machine & Hay not worth cutting. A good rain last week saved the late crops & things look a little better. Some day am going to write a good long letter & then will send you all the news, until then I am as ever, Your cousin, Frank A Matthews"
