Narrative and Notes

Lilian Mary married a merchant seaman John Royston Douglas WEAVER in Bombay in 1934.

She appears to have travelled back and forth between England and the Far East many times during their marriage.

On 11 Aug 1939 she sailed from London to Calcutta on board the SS Domala. Britain delared war on Germany three weeks later. Her last address in the UK was listed as The Homestead, Victoria Road, Bromsgrove, but her permanent residence was in India.

On 21 Aug 1946 she sailed from London for Colombo. Her last address in England being Oversley, New Road, Bromsgrove, but her permanent residence was now Ceylon.

In 1948, after her husband's death in 1947, Lilian travelled from Colombo to Sydney on board the SS Madura. Her destination address was "c/o Mrs A Jenvey, 39 Jackson Street, Manley, Sydney."
