In the name of God Amen, I William Venemore of Wendlebury in the County of Oxford yeoman do make constitute and appoint this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows

Imprimus that is to say first of all I bequeath my soul to God that gave it beginning and steadfastly believing to be saved by that death and passion of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ and my body to be buried according to the ordering of my executors

Item I give and bequeath unto all my grandchildren that are now alive the sum of 1 shilling a piece

Item I give unto my son Thomas Venemore fifty pounds also I give unto my daughter [Katterin] Venemore forty pounds

Item I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Venemore all those my goods which are at my son Williams house namely 2 boarded bedsteads one little table, one cupboard and press adjoining to it Also one chair As for the table and frame that stand in the hall and one former and two God stools I give unto my son William Venemore for his life and to his male heir and for want of some male heir to my son Thomas Venemore forever after my son Williams decease

All the rest of my goods cattles and chattels whatsoever I give unto my loving wife Elizabeth Venemore whom I do make points to be my full and whole executrix of this my last will testament

I do appoint William Seller of [arncut = Arncott? ] and John Venemore my son of Piddington to be overseers of this my last will and testament: witness my hand and seal the day and year first above written

A true and perfect Inventory of all the goods and chattels of William Venimore the Elder who deseased the forth day of January in the yeare of our Lord: 1683: by us whose names are hereunto subscribed

  • His purse and girdle and his wearing apparel

  • Two bedsteads two feather bols[ters] wit heth furniture thereunto belonging
  • One trustle bed, two flock bols[ters] with the furniture to them belonging
  • Nine pairs of sheets, four table cloths, three dozen and a half of napkins

  • Iron wares
  • One table & frame & stools
  • One chair, one cupboard, one round table, two old bedsteads, one coffer

  • Two outhouses, three gardners and one malt mill
  • Two hovels and old wood
  • Five cows, nine sheep, two pigs and one hog and bacon

The sum is £188 8s 0d
