Narrative and Notes

An Elizabeth GARNER, daughter of Richard GARNER, was buried in Hinckley in March 17401. This could not have been this Elizabeth, then 4 years old, because we know that Richard's daughter Elizabeth married Henry DAWSON in 1760 and survived until at least 1785 when she was bequeathed £30 in Richard's will. (There is no record of a second Elizabeth being baptized and even if she had been then she would have been very young to marry in 1760.) This only leaves the options that this record relates to another Richard, or that Richard's fourth wife Martha, brought a daughter Elizabeth to their family who was renamed Elizabeth GARNER.
