In an anecdote from Andrew Sivell WEAVER recalled, as a young boy, "Boyd" WEAVER working in the Weaver and Guest shop on Bromsgrove High Street. The two shops were opposite each other with the Seed Merchant (where you could also buy dog biscuits) and the grocers facing each other. Shortly after the war, Boyd showed Andrew a banana. Andrew, who had never seen a banana, was very unimpressed by the very blackended fruit and would have been unaware of the significance of the existence of any banana in England, or why Boyd would have been proudly showing off such a poor specimen!
