In the name of God Amen I William Forrest of Mellor in the County

of Lancaster yeoman being of sound and perfect mind memory and understanding do make

publish and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following

that is to say First I order and direct that all my just debts funeral expenses and the charges

of the probate of this my will be paid and discharged by my trustees and executives herein-

after named out of my real and personal estate and effects which I do hereby subject and

charge with the payment thereof; I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jenny otherwise

Jennet Forrest for and during her life the use and enjoyment of my mahogany chest of

drawers six chairs my best tea kettle my set of tea cups and saucers my six silver spoons

the bed bedsteads and bedding whereon and wherein she usually sleeps and my pair of

looms with everything appertaining thereto and from and immediately after her decease

I order and direct my executor's hereinafter named or the survivor of them his executors or

administrators to sell and dispose of the same (save and accept the said looms which with

everything appertaining thereto I give and bequeath unto my grandson Thomas Forrest the

son of my son Thomas Forrest and the money which shall arise by or from such sale I

direct to be paid unto and divided equally amongst my said son Thomas and my

daughters Sarah the wife of Richard Counsel Ann the wife of George Walmsley Alice otherwise Ely the wife of John

Moore and Betty otherwise Elizabeth the wife of James Kenyon or their several and

respective legal representatives I give device and bequeath unto Richard Edleston of

Blackburn in the said County Attorney at Law and John Edleston of Mellor aforesaid

Yeoman their executors administrators and assigns all that my messuage cottage

and dwellinghouse situate in Mellor aforesaid with the rights privileges and

appurtenances thereto belonging now in the occupation of one Charles Downham

To hold to them the said Richard Edleston and John Edleston their executors

administrators and assigns for enduring all the estate term and interest which I may

have therein at the time of my decease upon trust that they and the survivor of them

and the executors and administrators of such survivor do and shall permit and suffer

my said daughter Jenny or otherwise Jennett to have hold use occupy and enjoy and

receive and take the rents issues and profits thereof to and for her own use and benefit

for and during the term of her natural life she keeping the same in good and tenantable repair and paying the ground or Lords

rent thereof and from and immediately after the decease of her my said daughter

Jenny otherwise Jennett then upon further trust that they my said trustees or

the survivor of them his executives or administrators do and shall absolutely sell and

dispose of the said messuage cottage or dwellinghouse by public auction or private contract

and for promoting and facilitating such sale or sales do and shall enter into make and

execute all such contracts conveyances assignments assurances acts deeds matters and

things as to my said trustees or the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such

survivors shall seem reasonable and I will and declare that the receipt or receipts of my

said trustees or the survivor of them his executives or administrators for the money for which

any said messuage cottage or dwellinghouse and premises shall be sold shall from time

to time be sufficient discharge or discharges to the purchaser or purchasers thereof for

his her or their purchase money also much there of as in such receipt or receipts shall be

acknowledged or expressed to be received and that such purchaser or purchasers his her or their

heirs executors administrators or assigns or any of them shall not afterwards be answerable

or accountable for any loss misapplication or nonapplication of such purchase money so

received or any part thereof and I direct in declare that the monies to arise by the sale of

the said dwellinghouse and premises shall be paid unto and divided equally amongst my

said son Thomas and my said daughters Sarah Ann Alice otherwise Ely and Betty otherwise Elizabeth

all their several and respective legal representatives and as for and concerning all the rest

residue and remainder of my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what

nature kind or quality soever and also all and every my real estate houses buildings lands

tenements and hereditaments situated in the Township of Mellor aforesaid and all and every my part

share and parts for shares of and in any such and all and every other for freehold and leasehold

messuages lands tenements herditaments and real estate in the set County of Lancaster or

elsewhere of which I shall die seised or possessed or otherwise entitled to either in reversion remainder or

expectancy I give devise and bequeath the same unto the said Richard Edleston and John Edelston

their heirs executors administrators and the signs to hold the same to them the said Richard

Edleston and John Edleston their heirs executors administrators and assigns forever according to the

nature of the property upon the trust's thereinafter expressed regarding the same that is to say upon

Trust that they the said Richard Edleston and John Edleston or the survivor of them or the heirs

executors or administrators of such survivor do an shall with all convenient speed after my decease

make sale of and convert into money all such parts or parts of my said personal estate and effects

as shall not consist of money and call in and compel payment of such parts thereof as shall consist of

money out of interest or otherwise and also collect get in and recover all book and other debts owing to me

at the time of my decease in such manner as they or he shall think expedient and shall and do also

as soon as conveniently maybe after my decease absolutely sell and dispose of all and every my said real estate

houses buildings lands tenements and hereditaments situate in Mellor aforesaid and all and every my

part or share or parts or shares or other my right title and interest of and in any such and also all and

every over the said freehold and leasehold messuages lands tenements hereditaments and real estate

in the said County of Lancaster or elsewhere of which I shall die seised or possessed of or entitled to as aforesaid by

public auction or private contract for the best price or prices that can reasonably be had or gotten for the same

end respectively to grant convey and assure the same accordingly And I will and declare that the receipt or

receipts of my said trustees or the survivor of them or the heirs or assigns of such survivor for the money for

which the same shall be respectively sold shall from time to time be a sufficient discharge or sufficient

discharges to the purchaser or purchasers of the said several premises herein before made saleable or any part

all parts vents of for his her or their purchase money or so much there of as in such receipt or receipts shall be

acknowledged or expressed to be received and that such purchaser all purchases his her or their heirs executors

administrators or assigns or any of them shall not off afterwards be answerable or accountable for any loss

misapplication or nonapplication of such purchase money or any part or parts thereof or be in anywise

bound to see to the application there of And I do hereby declare and direct that my said trustees and

the survivor of them and their executors administrators and the assigns of such survivors shall stand and be

possessed of and hold the monies to arise from the said residue of my said personal estate and effects

aforesaid and also from or by the sale or sales last mentioned to be made Upon further trust

to pay satisfy and discharge thereout all my just debts funeral expenses and the charges of the

probate and execution of this my will and the residue and remainder of such monies to pay

unto and divide the same equally amongst my said son Thomas my daughter Sarah the

wife of Ralph Counsel and my said daughter Jenny otherwise Jennett Forrest Anne Walmsley

Alice otherwise Ely Moore and Betty otherwise Elizabeth Kenyon or their several and

respective lawful representatives and I do hereby will and direct that in case my son Henry

shall not take or be entitled to all or any part of the estate buildings lands and premises which

I and others under me now hold and occupy situate in Mellor aforesaid he my said son

Henry shall have and be entitled to an equal share with my other children of the money to

arise and to be divided as last mentioned amongst all my other children and also of the money

to arise and be divided at or immediately after the decease of my said daughter Jenny

otherwise Jennett as herein before mentioned amongst my said son Thomas and my said

daughter Sarah and Alice otherwise Ely and Betty otherwise Elizabeth Kenyon And I hereby

revoke all former will and wells by me at any time heretofore made and do publish and declare

this one to be my last will and testament and thereof do nominate and appoint the said

Richard Edleston and John Edelston Executors And lastly and I do will and

declare that it shall and may be lawful to and for my said trustees and survivor of them

his heirs executors administrators or assigns to deduct and retain out of the said trust Estates and

Money is all there and his respective costs charges damages and expenses in and about the performance and

execution of the trusts aforesaid and that neither of them shall be answerable or accountable for the acts or

receipts of the other of them but each of them for his own acts deeds receipts and wilful default only and not

otherwise and that neither of them shall be charged or chargeable with or for any more money than they

shall respectively actually receive (their joining in any receipt for conformity's sake notwithstanding)

nor with or for any loss which may happen to my estate so as the same happen without their

respective wilful neglect or default In witness where of either said William Forrest the testator

have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the 29th day of December

in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen
