There were two possible baptisms for James:
- 31 Aug 1679 in Burnsall by Richard CHALLENGEHOUSE
- 10 May 1716 in Fewston by James Challinghouse, yeoman
The Burnsal James would have been 65 when he married Ann, but the Fewston James would be 29 years old. It is possible that Burnsall James was the father of the Fewston James, but given the rarity of the name it is almost certain that they were related somehow. It seems unlikely that a yeoman of Fewston would marry a single mother of Greenhow Hill and become a miner.
