Widow died six weeks after fall
The Blackburn coroner Mr George Wightman recorded a verdict of misadventure at an inquest on grover's widow Mrs Harriet Bamford, 82, of Rockcliffe Street, who died in Blackburn Infirmary six weeks after falling downstairs at her home.
Mr John Michael Torry, pathologist, said that Mrs Bamford had suffered severe bruising of the brain, causing unconsciousness. Her immobilisation following the fall led to pneumonia and a blood clot in the lung, which caused her death.
BAMFORD - On Saturday 31st March 1973, in hospital, harriet, the dearly beloved wife of the late Fred Bamford, of 22 Rockcliffe Street, Blackburn, aged 82 years. Dear mother of Firth. Reposing at home from Thursday from where the cortege will leave on Friday for funeral service at Christ Church at 11 a.m. prior to interment at Blackamoor Churchyard.
