Thomas WATSON was a tutor in Barmby in the Marsh.
His wife was Elizabeth THOMPSON, as given on his son William's baptism record.
Thomas WATSON and Elizabeth THOMPSON had banns of marriage read in North Ferriby (on the north bank of the Humber, 50 miles east) in May/June 1789, but the record of the actual marriage was left blank. Did the marriage not happen but they moved away and continued the pretence in Barmby? Or did the marriage happen elsewhere?
It is thought that they had five children in Barmby on the Marsh, four of which has surviving baptism records and Elizabeth whose baptism would have been in 1791/2, a period for which many of the parish records have been lost.
Other information:
Thomas may have had a sister Sarah WATSON who married Edmund BUSHBY and baptized a son Edmund on 9 Nov 1785 in Barmby.
