Narrative and Notes

Isaac TURNER was a cloth weaver and clothier.

He married Hannah WILSON at St Peter's, Leeds, in late October 1813 with his first child born a few months later. He had two boys with Hannah WILSON: John (1813) and Joseph (1816).

There is no death/burial record for Hannah, but Isaac then married Hannah PROCTOR, a widow, in December 1818 and had a further six children. Hannah died in 1834 following the birth of their son Thomas.

In Q1 1839 Isaac married Elizabeth SMITH a widow in Pontefract. In 1841 he was living with Elizabeth aged 35-39 at Marsh, Rothwell.

By 1851 Elizabeth is 42 and they are living with Joseph SMITH, Isaac's son-in-law. Isaac and Elizabeth are still together in 1861, but by 1871 he is listed as a widower and annuitant and living at 34 Paley's Buildings in Leeds.

Isaac TURNER died of senile decay and dysentery aged 81 on 20 Mar 1875 at 34 Paley's Buildings, Leeds.

Other information:

Another Isaac and Hannah TURNER were also baptizing children in Leeds in the 1820's, including George, Catherine, Richard and Elizabeth Marsden. That Isaac was a butcher.
