Joseph SIMPSON lived in Greenhow and was a lead miner, as evidenced by his daughter Hannah's baptismal record.

His father was William SIMPSON who baptized him in Pateley Bridge in March 1678 (i.e. 1679 in modern era dates.)

Joseph married Mary SKELTON on 20 Jan 1703/4 in Ripon Cathedral, but this was helpfully reported in the Pateley Bridge parish records. At the time they were both living in Bishopside which is just north east of Pateley Bridge.

They had 8 children baptized in Pateley Bridge.

Joseph's wife of 43 years, Mary, died in March 1746 and it appears that he followed her a month later.
