Rebecca HASLEWOOD/HEAZELWOOD married Thomas WELDON in June 1794 in Rotherby. They lived in Syston and had seven children between 1794 and 1804.
Thomas must have died between 1804 and 1811, as in August 1811 Rebecca married a widower, Joseph WEBSTER, a framework knitter.
Joseph and Rebecca WEBSTER baptized three children in Burbage: Rachel (1812), Charles (1814) and Martha (1815).
No burial for a Rebecca WEBSTER has been found near Burbage, but there is one for a Rachel WEBSTER aged 63 on 12 Feb 1837. Perhaps she preferred to be called 'Rachel'. Or it was a mistake. Evidence to support this burial includes an implied birthyear of 1773/4 which fits perfectly with Rebecca marrying Thomas WELDON in 1794 aged 21, and it fits with her naming a daughter Rachel. But no death registration record has been found to confirm the match.
Based on this birth year, Rebecca's baptism can be confidently identified: Thomas and Elizabeth HASLWOOD baptized a Rebekah HASLEWOOD on 24 Apr 1774 in Rotherby. They baptized a number of other children including a daughter, Rachel, in 1770, an older sister who may have been the inspiration for the use of the name Rachel.
