Narrative and Notes

Thomas WELDON of Syston married Rebecca HEAZELWOOD of Rotherby in June 1794 in Rotherby. They lived in Syston and had seven children between 1794 and 1804.

Thomas was baptized in Syston by Thomas and Elizabeth WELDON on 25 Aug 1771.

There were many burials of Thomas WELDONs in Leicester after 1803 but only two in Syston:

- 1807 Thomas WELDON framework knitter was buried 16 Sep

- 1811 Thomas WELDON woolcomber was buried 31 Jan.

While it is not possible to say for certain which, if either, is the correct burial, the profession of framwork knitter and the longer period between being widowed and re-marrying Joseph WEBSTER in August 1811, suggests that the 1807 burial is the right one.
