Narrative and Notes

Thomas HASLEWOOD (or HEASELWOOD) was a carpenter from the Parish of Asfordby in the County of Leicester.

He was the son of James and Mary HASLEWOOD who baptized him in Asfordy on 26 Nov 1838.

On Valentine's Day 1762, aged 23 and a bachelor, he arranged a license to marry Elizabeth UNDERWOOD of Rotherby, a spinster also aged 23. This confirms that he was born in 1738/9.

Thomas married Elizabeth the next day in Rotherby. Rotherby and Asfordby are 2.5 miles apart.

They had nine children including eight girls.

His wife died in December 1780.
