It is thought that James HOLYDAY married three times.
His first wife Anne PEARSON, married in 1762, bore him at least three children. At the time of his third child, Sarah's baptism in 1770, the family were living in Oulton, near Rothwell. It is thought that Anne died shortly after the birth of Sarah.
James married his second wife, Elizabeth CLAYTON, 1772, and she bore him two further children. Elizabeth died in January 1783. James' third wife was Grace WARDO, whom he married in Wakefield in October 1784. She died a widow in Rothwell in 1789.
No burial for James' first wife, Anne, nor for James himself, has been found, so there is still some need for caution with this history.
