Narrative and Notes

There are two baptisms of a Robert SIMPSON between 1605 and 1626 near Pateley Bridge:

Robert - 19 Jan 1611/12 - son of Thomas SIMPSON in Skipton in Craven (16 tough miles from Pateley Bridge)
Robert - 3 Sep 1626 - son of Edmond Sympson in Pateley Bridge

Neither are ideal. Edmond's son would have only been 17 when Marmaduke was born, while Thomas' son was not born in Pateley Bridge and there's no evidence that a Thomas SIMPSON moved to Pateley Bridge.

Robert married Ursula HAXBYE in 1641, and the widowed Ursula died in Pateley Bridge in 1683.
