Agnes might have worked as a house servant in the King's Arms Inn in Sedbergh in 1851. The census record might however relate to another Agnes KENDAL christened in Sedbergh in 1825.
In 1861 she is working as a nurse in West Derby living with her niece Nancy MACHELL. In 1870 she was back in Sedbergh, probably caring for her mother who had suffered from "paralysis" for two years and who died in July that year.
Perhaps released from caring for her disabled mother, in 1875, at the age of 46, she married Charley BRAGG, a widower with children.
Her niece, Agnes Ann KENDAL, wrote the following entries in her diary of 1876:
Wed. 9 August
Aunt Agnes & Uncle Charley have come back with Father from Sedbergh. It is the first visit since the wedding. I like Aunt far better. Wedding seems to have worked a change with her. It is love or something.
Fri. 11 August
Uncle & Aunt have been to Uncle Williams for the afternoon.
Sat. 12 August
Father drove Uncle & Aunt up to Sedbergh this morning.
Agnes BRAGG nee KENDAL died in January 1892.
