Narrative and Notes

Richard OLDFIELD lived near Crookrise, 2.5 miles north of Skipton. He may have lived at what is now called Owlet House - it was written "Awleter house" on his daughter Anne's baptismal record. (An awleter is a player of the flute.)

Richard OLDFIELD married Marie DEMAYNE in Bolton (Abbey?) in February 1606

Richard OLDFIELD of Awleter house baptized Anne

Richard OLDFIELD married Margret DEMAINE in October 1613 (sister of Marie?)

Richard OLDFIELDS of Crokerise buried a child in August 1614

Mary (#1) baptized by Richard OLDFIELD of Crokerise

Mary (#2) baptized by Richard OLDFIELD of Crokerise

Richard OLDFIELD married Jane WATSON in Skipton

Elizabeth baptized by Richard OLDFIELD

Margret baptized by Richard OLDFIELD in January

Jane OLDFIELD was buried in November "w- fil" (with son?) on 9 Nov 1623.

Margret (#2) baptized by Richard OLDFIELD of Thorlby

Mary (#3) baptized by Richard OLDFIELD of Stirton

William baptized by Richard OLDFIELD of Naughton

Jane baptized by Richard OLDFIELD of Thorlby

Margrett DEMAINE of Crookerise was buried on 8 Nov 1835.

Margret OLDFIELD was buried

These Richard may have been the same Richard, or four different ones. If it was a single Richard then he could not have been the father of the Mary OLDFIELD who married Thomas JACKMAN in 1638, that is unless he had two surviving daughters called Mary.
