Richard MUSGRAVE married Alice IDLE in Birstall in March 1611 and they baptized Alice MUSGRAVE in Birstall in June 1611.
There were only three other local baptisms by a Richard MUSGRAVE. These were by Richard MUSGRAVE of Holbeck (5 miles from Birstall) and were held in Leeds and included John 1613, George 1616/17 and Priscilla 1618/19. These look like they are the same family. It's possible that his wife was from Birstall, so baptized their first born there, but then they lived in Holbeck.
Seven years after those four, a Richard MUSGRAVE of Woodhouse (3 miles further north) baptized five children in Leeds. These are a different family as daughter Priscilla was still in Holbeck when she married in 1642.
As for Richard's parents, there are three baptisms of Richard MUSGRAVEs in Leeds in around 1590 at St Peter, Leeds:
- 20 Oct 1587 by Robert MUSGRAVE: "Item Robarte Musgrave of Bramley had a child xxended the 20 day named Richarde"
- 12 Jul 1588 by Thomas MUSGRAVE: "Item Thomas Musgrave of Bramley had a child xxened the 12 daye named Richard"
- 19 Sep 1591 by John MUSGRAVE: "Item John Musgrave of Armley had a child xxened the same daie [19] cit Richard"
It's not clear which if any of these was Richard's baptism, but Armley is on the edge of Holbeck, whereas Bramley is 4 miles away.
A Richard MUSGRAVE was buried on 7 Jan 1629/30 in Birstall and an Alice MUSGRAVE on 26 Apr 1630.
