Joseph BAILEY was born in about 1809 and was a dairy man and farmer. He married Esther BATES in Coventry on 5 Apr 1838 and together they had two sons Joseph and Thomas and a daughter Esther.
His father was Thomas BAILEY (as per his wedding certificate) and a William BAILEY was a witness to that marriage.
Joseph died of pulmonary consumption on 14 Dec 1852 aged 43.
Joseph's parents
While there is no absolute proof, it is probable that Joseph was christened in St Mary's, Hinckley by Thomas Stanton BAILEY and Elizabeth BAILEY nee GREWCOCK on 3 Nov 1809. This is the only christening of a Joseph by a Thomas BAILEY in Hinckley. Also, while it may be a coincidence, in 1841 Joseph & Esther are employing a 14 year old servant called Ann GREWCOCK, possibly a young relation.
Another Joseph Stanton BAILEY, plaster and builder, was baptised in Wootton, Nothamptonshire in 1806, and was likely a cousin.
