Narrative and Notes

Little is known about Jane SIMPSON, other than she married Isaac COUPER in Burnsall in 1701 and they had two daughters: Ann and Alice.

Jane died in May 1736 and was buried in Burnsall.

Who were Jane's parents?

There are possible baptisms .

A Jane SIMPSON was baptized by John SIMPSON on 9 Jun 1673 in Fewston, near Harrogate, 15 miles away from Burnsall.
Another Jane SIMPSON was baptized in Wath by John SIMPSON on 18 Mar 1679, 27 miles from Burnsall.

It's also possible that she was a widow when she married Isaac COUPER, or an older bride, which may explain there being only two children from the marriage despite her living for 35 years after the marriage. However there are no obvious marriages and burials to support that theory. For instance, a Jane HARROP married Christopher SIMPSON on 7 Feb 1699/00 in Pateley Bridge, however Christopher lived to 1756.
