Mary WALKER married William NEWBOLD, a lead miner, in Pateley Bridge in 8 Mar 1783.
The best christening record is for a Jacob WALKER of Greenhow Hill baptizing Mary on 4 Jul 1761. On their marriage record it states that they were both minors, but if Mary was baptized in July 1761 then she would have been 21 years old. William would have been 20 which might explain why parental approval was required.
In about 1796/7 they relocated to Lofthouse where William would have started to mine coal.
The had eight children between 1784 and 1805. John (1797) was the first baptised in Rothwell.
There are very few death records for a Mary NEWBOULD or variants near to Rothwell:
- Mary Ann NEWBOLD - burial on 6 Dec 1836, Rothwell. Mary had not been call Mary Ann previously so unlikely.
- Mary NEWBOULD - Civil register in Hunslet district which includes Rothwell - Q1 1851. No 1841 census entry has been found to confirm this record.
