Richard STAWE lived in Skyreholme, Yorkshire. Skyreholme is a small hamlet situated near Appletreewick in the Yorkshire Dales. It can be found in a small valley containing Fir Beck, a tributary of the River Wharfe. Skyreholme is an old Norse name meaning bright water-meadow. On one side of the valley is Appletreewick Pasture, on the other side the scarp face of Simon's Seat. The village of Appletreewick is 15 minutes walk away. Also nearby are Bolton Abbey, the village of Grassington and the bustling market town of Skipton with its busy market and shops, and a mediaeval castle.
Given where he lived and the fact that his daughter Anne married a husbandman/yeoman, he was probably also a husbandman/yeoman.
He christened six children in Burnsall betwen 1649 and 1664.
No marriage, no burial for him and no burial for his wife have been identified.
