Robert NEWBOLT married Ann BRAY in January 1709 (1710 Gregorian) shortly before she gave birth to their first child George in March 1709/10.
They had at least eight children, with two Matthews and a Robert dying in infancy, probably prior to their christenings.
Robert, a lead miner, lived in Moor Houses, where his sons George and Mark both stayed as adults, and in the case of Mark until he died in 1742.
Robert's wife, Ann, died in 1733. This record identifies Robert as a miner.
A burial record of 1752 states "Robert Newbolt junior of Moor-Houses May ye 19th". Could Robert, who must have been 65+ in 1752, still be 'junior'? Or was this another son Robert, born after 1726, whose christening record is missing? Whoever this was they left a will with probate passed in May 1753. (This has been ordered from Borthwick Institute.)
No baptismal record for Robert NEWBOLT or variants has been found. A George NEWBOLT buried an Anna on 11 Feb 1694/5, and given that Robert's eldest son was call George it is possible that this George was his father too.
