Anne NAYLOR was born in Oulton in 1721 according to her marriage licence. Confusingly the bishops transcript of the record of her marriage 11 days later names her as "Eliz". Given that the former was a signed legal document, the name Anne has been assumed to be correct.
To corroborate this there are no clear local burial records for an Elizabeth PEARSON, whereas a Nanny PEARSON, wife of John PEARSON, was buried in Woodkirk (where their two children were baptized) in February 1790.
The licence would have been necessary because she was barely 17 years old. Seven weeks after the wedding Anne and John baptized a son William.
While her marriage licence suggests that she was born in 1721/22, however the most likely baptismal record was in Feb 1722/23 when Ann daughter of Thomas NAYLOR was baptized in Wakefield. The only other nearby baptism was a year later in Leeds and can be discounted as the father was Joseph NAYLOR of Kirkgate, in Leeds.
