Narrative and Notes

There's a Martha THORNTON baptized in Bradford in 1689, but an alternative is that Martha was a widow when she married Jeremiah PEARSON in October 1713.

A Martha CROWTHER married a Richard THORNTON, both of Hipperholme, on 11 Sep 1712. Hipperholme is less than a mile from Lightcliffe where Jeremiah PEARSON was living around that time. But, no burial for Richard in 1712/13 can be found and there were no Martha CROWTHERs baptized in Wakefield, so this is just a theory.
