William NUSSEY is thought to be the father of Anne NUSSAY, who married John JOW in Burnsall in 1725. This is based on the 1702 baptism being the only one found locally and William living in a coal mining region with known links to the lead mining area of Greenhow Hill in the parishes of Burnsall where Anne was married and Pateley Bridge where her children were baptized. Anne was one of five children baptized in Thornhill by William of Netherton/Overton around this time: Jane (1697), Elizabeth (1699), Anne (1702), Joseph (1704) and Benjamin (1709).
The only nearby wedding is on 26 Feb 1684 at Thornhill when William NUSSEY married Elizabeth JACKSON. This looks a bit early, but may have been a first marriage. This William, of Netherton, baptized John (1685/6), Grace (1687) and Mary (1688) in Thornhill.
There is a sizeable gap between the baptisms of Mary in 1688 and Jane in 1697, which may be explained by a move to another parish or the death of William's first wife.
A William NUSSAY was buried in Burnsall in 1716 and has a good chance of being the father of Anne NUSSAY.
Other information:
A William NUSSEY was baptized in December 1701 in Thornhill by Sarah NUSSEY of Middletongue late begotten by William Jackson junr. Given that Anne NUSSEY was baptized six months later in June 1702 it is not thought that this is not a son or directly relevant to William NUSSEY.
