Eustace was born in 1619 in Garthorpe, 6 miles east of Melton Mowbray. He became a miller - there was a mill in Garthorpe that might have been his father's.
He later lived in Ab Kettleby (written as Ekettleby in the parish records), where he had two children with Elizabeth: Mudwin in 1651 and Elizabeth on 27 Aug 1655, but his wife Elizabeth was buried on the same day.
Eustace had buried his previous wife, Mary, and an infant in 1648. After Elizabeth's death he married Ann DOODLE, spinster, on 7 Dec 1656, and they baptized and buried Thomas in 1657.
Ekettleby (now Ab Kettleby) is 3 miles north of Melton Mowbray of the Nottingham road and is 7 miles across fields from Rotherby.
A Eustace COMPTON Sr was buried in Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire (10 miles north of Garthorpe) in 1711, but Eustace would have had to have been a very old man (i.e. 89 if 21 when he married). It's more likely that Eustace had a son Eustace, who married Cicely and baptized the Eustace COMPTON in Wyfordby (near Garthorpe) in 1679, married Esther FEILDING in Woolsthorpe in 1687, baptized another Eustace COMPTON in Woolsthorpe in 1694, and then died in 1711. This Eustace would likely have met Sir Isaac NEWTON who lived in Woolsthorpe during that period. Incidentally, Eustace COMPTON Jnr was buried in 1731 in Woolsthorpe.
