Narrative and Notes

Jane HANDS married Robert FURBROUGH, a weaver, in 1745. On the marriage bond signed by Robert and Thomas WATTS of Monks Kirby, Jane was a spinster aged 23 on 1 Jan 1745/6, implying a birthyear of 1721/2, and was from the Parish of Monks Kirby. No actual marriage document has been found.

A Jane HANDS was baptized in Monks Kirby on 14 Oct 1724 by Richard and Elizabeth HANDS of Kirby.

If this is the correct baptism, and assuming that Jane was actually born in 1724, then she would have been 20 years old on 1 Jan 1745. There were no other HANDS families baptizing children in Monks Kirby at this time so it is reasonable to consider Richard and Elizabeth as parents.

Jane and Robert FURBROUGH lived in Frolesworth, Leicestershire and had 11 children between 1752 and 1771.

Jane died in 1808 and was buried in Frolesworth on 22 Oct 1808.
