There were only three baptisms of an Anne CONWAY new South Kirkby, and all three were by a different John CONWAY. It is not known which is the right John CONWAY:
- John of South Kirkby in Oct 1653 - who died Jan 1657/58
- John of South Elmsall in Nov 1653 - who died 18 Aug 1670 - wife was Anne died 1 May 1670
- John of Flatts in 1655
Various John CONWAYs married locally, but they don't match up nicely:
- Anne BRIGGE in 1631 in South Kirkby - This might be John of South Kirkby's wife; there first child being born in 1633.
- Marie MITCHELL in May 1639 in Pontefract. John was a yeoman born 1618 living in South Kirkby.
- Elizabeth RAYNER in 1640 in South Kirkby - This might be John of Menstrope, first child 1741 (who was called Elizabeth). This John might have become known as John of South Elmsall or John of Flatts. Elizabeth died Feb 1659/60 which fits best with John of Elmsall's last son Thomas' birth.
- An KEYES in 1664 in Frickley with Clayton - This might have been John of Elmsall (second) wife Anne who died 1670
One possible interpretation:
- John of South Kirkby married Anne BRIGGE in 1631: Frances 1633, Richard 1636, and Marie MITCHELL in 1640: John 1643, Thomas 1646, Anne 1653. Died 1657/58.
- John of Menstrope married Elizabeth RAYNOR: Elizabeth 1641, William 1642, then moved to become known as:
- John of South Elmsall: (maybe Matthew in Frickley with Clayton 1648), Anne 1653, William 1655, Thomas 1659. Wife Elizabeth died 1659/60. Re-married An KEYES. John and Anne died in 1670
- John of Flatts married ???? : Anne 1655.
There are strangely very few marriages of John CONWAYs in the rest of the country. There's one in Cambridge in 1651, and one Somerset 1655 (i.e too late).
The children listed are all offspring of John CONWAYs near South Kirkby and one or more of them may be Anne's siblings.
