Narrative and Notes
According to Bellasis, John was Lord of Crackenthorp, son of Alexander and married Beatrix whose name was probably BERCAR.
He is thought to have served as a juror in a dispute between King Edward I and the abbot of St Mary's York. He was a witness to many charters. Bellasis gives his opinion that he "must have been an active and stirring man."
He was living in August 1298, but his widow bestows her lands to their son Thomas in July 1311.
