Narrative and Notes

Hannah WEBSTER was born 29 May 1806 in Kendal, Westmorland. She married Thomas SCOTT, a tailor and had nine children. It is possible that she was introduced to Thomas by James WEBSTER, her brother, who was also a tailor.

She is identified as the mother of John SCOTT on his birth certificate.

At least between 1851 and 1859, when Thomas died, they lived on Highgate in Kendal. In 1871 she was living on "Interest of Money" at 24 Beast Banks with a lodger, and in 1881 she was living with her daughter Agnes at Yard 84, Highgate.

She died on 18 June 1882, aged 76 at Yard 27 No 2 Finkle Street of 'climacteric disease'. She is buried with her husband and daughter Jane in Kendal Cemetery.
