Narrative and Notes

William and Jane STEEL baptized Jane STEEL in Shoreditch in 1755. There were no other children baptized by this couple in London.

This may be explained by the early death of William. A William STEEL died in December 1759 aged 35 and was buried in St Botolph Without Bishopgate, which is only 1/2 mile from New Inn Yard.

Based on this burial record and his age, William was born in about 1725. A William STEEL, born 23 Dec 1725, was baptized by William and Sarah STEEL at Temple Church of England on 26 Dec 1725.

Other information:

The only matching marriage record is dated 1751 in South Shoreham, Hampshire, but that Jane STEEL died in 1755 and that William re-married in 1756 and baptized further children in Hampshire.
