Narrative and Notes

Zacharias (or occasionally Zachariah) BROOKER was born in about 1715.

One possible baptism was in Brighton by William BROOKER, however the implication is that the family then moved into London, or perhaps Zacharias' mother was originally from Brighton.

He married Elizabeth BELCHIER in 1736. They had at least six children, living in St Giles in London.

Zacharias wrote the first part of his will in 1788, with the majority of words spelt phonetically suggesting that he was never formally schooled as a child but had picked up reading and writing later in life.
