Edward MILES is identified as the father of Alice MILES on her wedding certificate.
He married Mary TILL in Clifton Campville in 1836. Together they had eight children from 1837 to 1859.
In 1841 Edwards, his wife Mary and their daughter Mary were living in Smithy Lane, Tamworth. Edward is described as an agricultural labourer.
According to the 1851 census Edward was born in Clifton, Staffordshire in about 1813/4, but was perhaps a bit younger as he was christened in January 1816.
Edward married Mary TILL in 1836 when he living in Caldcote, possible Caldecote near Nuneaton and close to the MILES' ancestral heartlands. At the time of the birth of Alice in 1849 they were living at Gungate, Tamworth.
On his daughter Alice's birth certificate of 1849 Edward is described as a labourer, and in 1851 he is recorded as being an omnibus driver. In 1861 he is recorded as being a labourer and the family are living at Castle Liberty Place, Tamworth. At the time of his daughter Alice's wedding in 1867 his profession was given as Servant.
By 1871 he was working as a brewery labourer and living at 16 Uxbridge St, Burton with his daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law Richard DOWNS, also a brewery labourer. His wife was still living in Tamworth with their 16 year old son Edward John.
He died in Duke Street, Burton, probably in the infirmary on that street, on 19 May 1873 of "apoplexy 46 hours".
