On John's wife's burial record, dated December 1702, she was described as "Maria uxor Johannis WALTHOE de Amerton". Amerton is less than a mile from Stowe by Charterly where John and Mary wre married in 1650. Even by 1882, 200 years later, Amerton still only had a farm and 10 other houses including a smithy and the Plough Inn.
John died the following September.
It is possible that John was christened in Stafford (7 miles from Stowe by Chartley) in March 1624 by William and Ann or in May 1626 by William and Margaret. Another John Walthoe christened in February 1626 by John and Joan died in infancy. There were two John WALTHOEs who died living wills in Stafford in the 1690s, so perhaps neither of these baptismal records are correct.
