Narrative and Notes

Elizabeth TIPLADY was the second wife of John SAGAR and the mother of Warwick SAGAR. She was from Askrigg.

The parish registers prior to 1701 have not survived so she was most likely born prior to this date. A possible birth record is Eliza. TIPLADY, baptised 16 Jun 1691, East Witton by father Wm. TIPLADY. East Witton is 15 miles away. It is also possible that Elizabeth TIPLADY was a widow, however no suitable first marriage has been found.

Elizabeth was buried on 25 Jun 1782 in Askrigg.

NB There was another Elizabeth TIPLADY in Askrigg who married John CLOUGHTON in 1699 and died in 1713. Perhaps this Elizabeth was an older sister or aunt, however she may have been Elizabeth CAYGILL who had married Ralph TIPLADY in 1687. A possible uncle was James TIPLADY who married Mary WATHERWOLD on 30 May 1696.
