Elizabeth PARKS married Sampson PARKS in September 1714 in Mapleton, Ashbourne. It's likely that she was a widow as she would have been Sampson's sixth wife.
There were a number of baptisms by an Elizabeth PARK(E)S and a former husband:
- Elizabeth and Sampson on 2 Aug 1694 by Richard and Elizabeth PARKS in Blore Ray ("1694 Elizabeth & Sampson twins of Rich: & Elizabeth Parks of Cotton baptized Aug: 2")
- Thomas on 18 Oct 1702 by Sampson and Elizabeth PARKES in Waterfall ("Anno Domini 1702 / Thomas sone of Sampson Parkes & Elizabeth his wife Bapt october 18th")
- Ann on 18 Sep 1711 by John and Elizabeth PARKS in St Martin, Osmaston by Ashbourne
- John on 28 Apr 1713 by John and Elizabeth PARKS in St Martin, Osmaston by Ashbourne
- Elizabeth on 5 Jan 1714/15 by John and Elizabeth PARKS in St Martin, Osmaston by Ashbourne
Could the Sampson baptized in 1694 by Richard and Elizabeth be the Sampson who married Ann GOLD in 1740 (aged 46)?
The baptism of Thomas in October 1702 by Sampson and Elizabeth shows that there were at least two adult Sampson PARK(E)S in the area in 1702, as another Sampson PARKS married Mary CLOOSE in December 1701. There is simply not enough time for a single Sampson to bury his new wife, marry another, and have a child delivered within just 10 months.
